Wednesday, July, 2

So yesterday, we had class in the morning, but I missed the second half of Jewish History because I didn't feel well. I think it was just a small stomach bug because it seems like a few people got it, but it passed in a few hours. I stayed back from the Tiyul but they went on a hike. Anyway, I got sleep and played some guitar. Today was very interesting. In the morning, we had Hebrew class and then we went into Jerusalem. We went back to Talpiyot and learned about King David and all of the stories regarding him. While we were there, we heard a lot of sirens toward the end, but had no idea what was happening. Apparantly at 12:30ish Israel time (5:30ishAM EST), there was a terrorist attack in downtown Jerusalem. It was very small, and consisted of a crazy Arab construction worker taking a tractor and driving through the bus stop area. He ran over and killed I believe 3 people and at least 66 are injured. We were supposed to go into King David's tunnel but changed our plans and went to a museum instead. The funny thing is (other than the method of attack), I wasn't very scared when I found out. It was a different reaction than I thought I would have if something like that happened. It was kind of just like.....well, I am pretty far away from that part of the city, and although it is pretty bad, I'm ok. It was a little bit of a shock, but it wasn't bad. There is supposedly a possible connection to an attack that happened in March. Anyways, it's pretty late here, and I am exhausted from a long day, filled with lots of drinking water (4 Liters to be exact). It's definitely a good idea to drink water when you are in Israel, although it makes it hard to walk past a bathroom without the need to utilize it. regardless, have a good night everyone.
